Hard Work Pays Off
Lots of hard work on the part of the students and instructors at the Long Prairie Freshwater Area Learning Center combined with support from the Long Prairie and Grey Eagle Lion's Clubs equals a new anti-smoking billboard several miles south of Long Prairie, MN on Hwy 71. KSAX television, John Weber, and the Area Learning Center class and teachers were on hand for a cold but proud billboard dedication last week. The billboard was made possible through funds raised by the students, the Lion's Clubs and help from Lamar Advertising of St.Cloud, MN. Weber, who was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer a year ago, has spoken with over 1,000 students around the state about the dangers of smoking. In addition to the Long Prairie billboard, there have been four in the St. Cloud area with one still up and one going up in Duluth. Weber would like to see the billboards in place all over the state to help spread the no-smoking message.
